Day 1: Barcelona

Upon arriving at the airport we will be waiting to transfer you to your hotel. You can enjoy free time until your tour starts. Day 2: Barcelona

In the morning we include a city tour of Barcelona, considered one of the most interesting European capitals, open to the Mediterranean Sea, famous for Gaudi and its modernist architecture, also for the ramblas and the memories of the Universal Exhibitions and Olympics that took place there. Free time in the afternoon. In the evening we include a transfer to the Maremagnum, a modern leisure center and restaurants facing the sea, next to Plaza Colon, where you can stroll through this lively area and dine.

Day 3: Barcelona - Peniscola - Valencia (303 km)

We will journey south along the Mediterranean, making a special stop in Peniscola, a small walled town on the shores of the sea. After a short introduction by our guide, you can make your own way through town, discovering its fishing port, the castle and beach at your own leisure. We will then travel to Valencia, where we will have time to have lunch. A local guide will take you on a tour of the city in the afternoon. In the tour we will learn about its historic city centre, the fish market, the cathedral and the avant-garde City of Arts and Sciences.

Peniscola is a beautiful walled town and its castle by the sea.

Valencia is the capital of the autonomous community of Valencia and the third largest city in Spain after Madrid and Barcelona. The Port of Valencia is the 5th busiest container port in Europe and busiest container port on the Mediterranean Sea.

Day 4: Valencia - Alicante - Caravaca de la Cruz - Granada (473 km)

Today we will continue our trip and head to Alicante. We will have time to take a walk in this charming, coastal city and, after lunch, we will make our way to the Murcia region, where we will visit Caravaca de la Cruz, a town considered by the Catholic Church as one of the five holy cities. Its church holds a relic of Christ’s Cross. We will also take a train ride up to its historic area, which we can explore, before we continue our trip along scenic roads on our way to Andalusia. We will end the day in Granada.

A city and port in Spain on the Costa Blanca. It is also a historic Mediterranean port. Amongst the most notable features of the city are the Castle of Santa Barbara, which sits high above the city, and the port of Alicante.

Caravaca de la Cruz is a town considered by the Catholic Church as one of the five holy cities. Its church holds a relic of Christ’s Cross.

Day 5: Granada

In the afternoon we will visit Alhambra Palace and its Generalife gardens. Free time in afternoon, during which you can visit the cathedral that houses the tomb of the Catholic Monarchs.

Granada is a mid-sized provincial capital in the Andalucia region of Spain. Rich in history and culture, Granada is arguably the single most worthwhile city in Spain for visitors. Spring and autumn are also both excellent times to visit.

  • The Alhambra is a massive complex consisting of multiple palaces and fortresses. It originated as a Spanish-Muslim fortress in the 9th century, but subsequent rulers, both Muslim and Christian, continually added additions and renovations.

    In the Alhambra complex, the Nazari palaces allow a limited number of people in at a time. In the highly improbable case of not being able to visit this area of the Alhambra, the Reales Alcazares in Seville, which is similar, would be visited and a sightseeing tour with a local guide of the city of Granada would also be offered.

  • Built in the 14th century as the summer palace of Nasrid Emirs of Grananda, the name of this palace means "Architect's Garden" for the extensive gardens on its grounds, which are world renowned for their exquisite beauty.

  • In this activity you will have a night out in the city of Granada to the famous neighborhood of Albaicin-Sacromonte, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and where you can attend the Zambra Gitana show. We will make a short walking tour of this picturesque place where we will reach the famous Mirador de San Nicolas from where you can see the Alhambra illuminated at dusk. You will have the opportunity to attend the pure flamenco show in Granada: flamenco stick, dance, singing, guitar playing and a drink.

Day 6: Granada - Asilah - Rabat (461 km)

Departure from Granada. We cross the Costa del Sol. In Algeciras or Tarifa we board a modern ferry to cross the Strait of Gibraltar. The coach does not normally make the crossing, so passengers must carry their luggage. Arrival in Morocco. We will journey through beautiful landscapes. Stop in the picturesque, ocean front town of Asilah. Time for lunch before we will resume our trip. Arrival in Rabat. Dinner buffet and accommodation included.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Until the reestablishment of the maritime connection between Spain and Morocco, an alternative route will be proposed by taking a flight from Malaga to Tangier where, after a brief tour of the city, we will depart to Asilah to continue with the planned journey. In this case, we will inform you about a supplement that will be charged for the airline ticket to be booked in order to make the connection.

Asilah is a small and picturesque walled city on the shores of the Atlantic was an ancient port and a base for pirates. Today the city is full of life.

Day 7: Rabat - Casablanca - Marrakech (331 km)

We will go on a scenic tour of Rabat in which we will visit the immense Royal Palace, the Mohamed V Mausoleum and the mighty Kasbah of the Udayas. At midday, we will travel to Casablanca,where we will have a short but informative tour of the city. The tour includes a visit to the outside of what is considered one of the most important mosques in the Arab world, the great Hassan II mosque. Then, we will head to Marrakech. After arriving at the hotel, you will be able to experience a traditional Kalesa ride up to the famous Djema square. Dinner buffet included.

Rabat is the capital and fourth largest city of Morocco. Tourism and the presence of all foreign embassies in Morocco serve to make Rabat one of the most important cities in the country.

  • The Royal Palace is the main official residence of the Moroccan king. It is located in the town of Touarga, the capital of Rabat.Located at the end of the church, the palace was built in 1864 and is the main residence of the royal family. It is forbidden for tourists.

  • The old castle of Udayas is the old castle of Rabat, Morocco. Located at the mouth of the Bou Regreg in Morocco, Udayas Kasbah is one of the most unique sites in the country.

Casablanca is largest city of Morocco, located in the western part of the country on the Atlantic Ocean. It is also one of the largest and most important cities in Africa, both economically and demographically.

  • This mosque in Casablanca is the largest in the country and the seventh largest in the world. At 60 feet, the minaret towers above the surrounding promontory, standing watch over the Atlantic Ocean.

Marrakech is a major city in the northwest African nation of Morocco. It is the fourth largest city in the country after Casablanca, Fes and Tangier, and is the capital of the mid-southwestern region of Marrakesh-Tensift-El Haouz.

Day 8: Marrakech

We will start the day with a guided tour of the city which gave the country its name. We will get to know the great walls of the city, the bustling Jemaa square, walk through the colorful Medina and see the Kutubia tower. We will visit to the Bahia Palace (ticket included). Lunch included. There will be free time in the afternoon: you can take a rest in the pool and the garden of the hotel, or walk around the Medina with its many shops, riads (small hotels), and restaurants established in beautiful historical buildings which have been perfectly preserved. We strongly recommend visiting the area where the “Secret Garden” and the Music Museum are located. In the evening, you can experience a Fantasia dinner and cultural show (optional).

Marrakech is a major city in the northwest African nation of Morocco. It is the fourth largest city in the country after Casablanca, Fes and Tangier, and is the capital of the mid-southwestern region of Marrakesh-Tensift-El Haouz.

Day 9: Marrakech - Ait Benhadou - Ourzazate - Boulmane Dades (193 km)

We will journey across the Atlas Mountains as their, usually snow-capped, high peaks will greet us as we say goodbye to Marrakech. Small Berber villages perch on the side of chasms. We will interrupt our journey to stop at the fortified village of Ait Benhadou, a place where several films have been filmed. At this point in our trip, our route will be going through the so-called biblical landscapes. We will spend some time in Ourzazate city with its impressive Kasbah. We will continue toward the valley of Roses. Boulmane Dades.

NOTE: On very rare occasions (during winter), the roads may be closed due to snowdrifts. If necessary, this section of the itinerary will be rescheduled according to our alternative itinerary. (Whether we can visit the Sahara or not will depend on road access).

Day 10: Boulmane Dades - Todgha - Khorbat - Erfoud

A journey full of excitement in the Sahara Desert: the Valley of the Kasbahs; river valleys containing thousands of palm trees; Stone plains followed by oasis and adobe villages, powerful fortresses defending the thoroughfares. We will visit the stunningly magnificent Todgha. On the way there, we shall stop at a small town built with adobe next to Khorbat, visitors will be able to learn about this desert community, which is supported by the Europamundo Foundation. (Note: due to weather conditions, such as river flooding, access might not possible at times).
We will continue toward Erfoud. Lunch included. Anyone who wishes to, can go on a field trip to visit the sand dunes of the Sahara Desert (and experience dusk among the dunes).

Erfoud is known as the ‘Gate of the Sahara Desert’. It is also a great destination for filmmakers due to the quality of the natural light and the beauty of the surrounding villages and desert oases.

Day 11: Erfoud - Fez (299 km)

We'll depart early from Erfoud, crossing the Atlas Mountains amidst impressive gorges and stunning landscapes. We'll traverse a high, cold plateau inhabited by nomadic shepherds. Our first stop will be in Midelt, located at the heart of this region. After lunch, we´ll continue our journey towards the Middle Atlas, where the scenery changes dramatically to a region characterized by forests and frequent winter snowfall. Near AZROU, in the National Park, we'll visit "The House of Cedars", a small museum providing insights into the region. Here, we'll also see the colonies of monkeys that inhabit the area. We'll continue to Bhalil, a small and quiet village home to Berbers of the Middle Atlas. Its old center is very picturesque, with colorful streets. Traditionally, the population lived in caves, which have now been integrated into the houses. Continuing onward, we´ll head to Fez. Before reaching our hotel, we'll take in the panoramic view of the city from the Saadian Tombs. Dinner will be provided.

Day 12: Fez - Tangier (393 km)

We will discover Fez with an informative scenic tour, entering through the Bronze Gates of the Royal Palace and exploring the Jewish quarter, its lively souks, and the Tanners'Quarter.  We will conclude the visit with an included lunch at an ancient palace of the Medina district. At the beginning of the afternoon, we will travel towards the north of Morocco. Arriving in Tangier in the mid-afternoon. Dinner and hotel accommodation included.

The third-largest city in Morocco, Fez features beautiful historic architecture that showcases the incredible works of the Arab world.

  • It is the royal palace of the Sultan of Alaouite in Fez, Morocco. The palace is located in the Fez Jdid district. It is 80 hectares in size and is known for its brass doors decorated with hard tiles and carved cedarwood. The palace is not open to the public.

  • The Fes el Bali is one of two medina quarters in the city of Fes, Morocco and a UNESCO World Heritage site. The district is surrounded by historic walls, and features excellent examples of Arab Moroccan art and architecture.

Tangier is a major city in northern Morocco. The history of Tangier is very rich, due to the historical presence of many civilizations and cultures starting from before the 5th century BCE.

Day 13: Tangier - Seville (184 km)

We will have some free time in Tangier, a good chance for some last-minute shopping, perhaps? We will return to Spain by ferry. The coach will not travel on board the ferry, therefore, each passenger will be required to carry their own piece of luggage with them. We will arrive in Algeciras or Tarifa and continue on to Seville. Evening arrival.

Note: Until the reestablishment of the maritime connection between Morocco and Spain, there will be proposed an alternative program that will include a flight from Tangier to Malaga to continue your journey. In this case, a supplement will be charged for the ticket and informed before departure.

Day 14: Seville

In the morning we include a city tour. You will be able to see the cathedral and its famous Giralda, the banks of the Guadalquivir River, and the popular neighborhoods of Santa Cruz and Triana. After the visit we will include a boat ride along the Guadalquivir River. Enjoy the panoramic views from the boat. In the evening we offer you the possibility to attend a popular flamenco tablao.

Seville is the capital of Andalucia and the cultural and financial centre of southern Spain. A city of just over 700,000 inhabitants (1.6 million in the metropolitan area, making it Spain's 4th largest city), Seville is Andalucia's top destination, with much to offer the traveler.

  • The barrio of Santa Cruz in Sevilla was once the city's Jewish Quarter, and is now the most popular tourist are in the city. The narrow, winding streets and alleyways of this neighborhood remind visitors of a labyrinth.

  • La Giralda was once a minaret for the Muslim population in medieval Sevilla, but was converted to a church bell tower after Christian forces had regained power in Iberia. Its design has influenced many other towers around the world.

Day 15: Seville - Merida - Evora - Lisbon (445 km)

We will leave Seville among pleasant landscapes of soft mountains and large pasture lands, we travel towards Extremadura. Merida, entrance included to the archaeological complex of the Roman Theater and Amphitheater, of excellent conservation, World Heritage Site. Time to have lunch and a walk in the pleasant pedestrian historic center with lots of life and restaurants. We will continue to Portugal, making a stop in Evora, a city also declared a World Heritage Site, with its white streets,its Renaissance palaces and its cathedral. Lisbon, arrival at the evening.

Merida is a destination that brings the old Roman Empire back to life. This World Heritage City boasts a Roman theatre which is over 2,000 years old and is still in use.

Evora is a city and a municipality in Portugal. Due to its well-preserved old town centre, still partially enclosed by medieval walls, and a large number of monuments dating from various historical periods, including a Roman Temple, Evora is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Day 16: Lisbon

In the morning we will have a city tour, during which we will get to know the Portuguese capital of the 7 hills, the alleys and the tiles, the "saudade" and the Atlantic light. We will also approach the Belem neighborhood, from where the great Portuguese navigators, who crossed the oceans in the 15th century, left. Free time in the afternoon to walk and go to the Bairro Alto and its viewpoint; if you´d like to, you could take an optional excursion to the towns of Sintra, Cascais and Estoril. In the evening we return from the Restauradores Square, full of atmosphere with its bars and cafes, to the hotel.

The capital city of Portugal, Lisbon is one of Europe's most important economic centers. It is also one of the most popular tourist destinations. Historically significant locations include Belem Tower and Jeronimos Monastery, which are recognized by UNESCO.

  • This fortified tower off the coast of Lisbon, also known as the Tower of St. Vincent, was built to defend the city in the 16th century. It was built in the Portuguese Manueline style of architecture of the 16th century.

  • This monument is located at the mouth of Lisbon harbor, commemorating the age of exploration, when ships bound for the American continents in the west would pass through the Tagus estuary.

  • The Jeronimos Monastery in Lisbon was once the home of the city's Hieronymite religious order, and one of the best examples of the Portuguese Manueline style of architecture. Today, the facility houses the National Archaeology Museum and the Marine Museum.

  • Dedicated to the restoration of Portugal's independence in 1640, this public square in Lisbon feature the Monument to the Restorers, a large obelisk, in its center. It is surrounded by several famous buildings, like the Art Deco Eden Cinema.

  • Enjoy the landscapes of the Tagus estuary, the famous Costa del Sol. Stop at the wonderful city of Sintra, immortalised by Lord Byron, and enjoy its microclimate and its many palaces and summer homes. Continue to the famous Guincho beach where you will see the westernmost point in Europe, the Cabo da Roca, and stop in the beautiful city of Cascais. Afterwards, have a brief stop in Estoril with its famous casino.
